Wallasey Water Tower was built by Mr Henry Pooley between 1859 and 1861 and opened by Mr Tollemache, MP.

The Water Tower has a tank at the top which held 150,000 gallons and was built for the height of the location, it was not a water production site. The water was initially obtained from a well at Poulton.

There was a small pond behind where the water tower was built, but there was a much bigger one across the other side of Mill Lane opposite the church; both of these ponds disappeared by the time the tower was built

.

This Grade 2 listed water tower was to serve the needs of the local community.  In world war two, the tanks on the top of the building were bombed, destroying it completely.

Today, only the supporting tower is left, which is being used as a garage, workshop, storage and as a hirable event venue.
